Teeth Veneers Can Change Your Life

Similar in shape to fingernails or small wafers, teeth veneers are fantastic for concealing and repairing dental damage. If your teeth are chipped, cracked, fractured, gapped, or worn, your dentist can use these dental restorations to give you a brand-new smile.

Rather than being embarrassed to show your smile in public, you’ll go out of your way to smile at others. You’ll want them to see your beautiful new teeth. Your radiant smile will draw others to you, and you’ll instantly seem like a friendlier, more likeable person. That’s the power of a beautiful smile!

Cosmetic Dental Associates is a full-service cosmetic dental office, so you’ll have the opportunity to combine your dental veneer treatment with any of our other offerings for a total smile makeover. For the perfect smile, you may also consider teeth whitening, Invisalign, or laser gum reshaping.

Common Questions About Veneers

Are dental veneers painful?

The process for getting your brand-new veneers should be pain-free. For some types of veneers, we may need to get rid of a little tooth enamel to make space for them. But because there are no nerve endings in your enamel, it’s painless. If you’re nervous about getting your new veneers, talk to us about your concerns and what we can do to make you feel more comfortable.

How long do dental veneers last?

The majority of our patients can expect their veneers to last for a minimum of 10 years. Certain aspects do impact longevity, including your oral care regimen and the kinds of foods you consistently consume. If you tend to eat a great deal of crunchy, hard, or chewy foods, your veneers may not last as long.

Can dental veneers be repaired?

We may be able to repair your veneers if the damage is small. If your veneer comes completely off, just wrap it in a soft tissue and bring it with you to the office so we can reattach it. In most cases, although it is possible to damage a veneer, it isn’t that common. If your veneer is not repairable, we will create a new one that matches it perfectly.

What is the difference between Lumineers vs. veneers?

Anyone interested in Lumineers in San Antonio will ask us how they differ from regular veneers. It’s a great question. Lumineers is simply a brand name of a good-quality veneer. The company operates out of a lab in California. Their lab technicians are above average, and they offer thick, thin, and prepless veneers. The downside is that their lab is so far away. They aren’t able to customize veneers as well or as quickly as we can with our in-house lab. At CDA, we offer several types of veneers, including one called permanent teeth whitening. When you opt for these veneers, you will know that they are being made for your unique smile. We measure the height and width of your smile as well as the position of the tooth within your smile. All these specifications help us create a fully customized dental veneer that fits perfectly and helps you look your best.

What is the difference between veneers vs. implants?

The difference between San Antonio dental implants and dental veneers is sometimes misunderstood. Here’s how it works:

  • A dental implant replaces a tooth that is already missing or is too far gone to save. The implant will restore the root of the missing tooth and allow for a restoration, like a crown, to replace the tooth.
  • A dental veneer is used when the tooth is there but looks bad. A good veneer can last for decades, so we use this option when the tooth is sound but needs a facelift. We will always prioritize keeping your natural tooth in place whenever possible.

How are veneers fitted?

Veneers are first hand-fitted one by one until they sit perfectly on your teeth. Then you preview the appearance – the shapes, sizes, and color – to make sure they are exactly what you want. If not, the veneers are corrected in our on-site lab, and once approved, they are securely bonded in place.

How much do veneers cost?

It is more important to consider the quality and value than to focus on just the cost. If a dentist advertises nothing but a low cost, run! You will not receive the quality or the value. And many dentists charge different amounts based on the material they use and even the location of their practice. Because we make all our veneers in our lab, and because we have so many patients from all over San Antonio, we are able to pass savings on to you. You will receive excellent value due to custom work. With so many factors affecting cost, the best way to get a realistic cost estimate is to visit your dentist and crunch numbers. See what your needs are, then look at what it will take to treat in terms of time, materials, and procedures. By working with your dentist to fully understand your needs, you will come up with a plan that delivers the best value and the best results possible.

What are veneers made of?

A number of materials can be used. Dental veneers are made of porcelain, ceramic, or plastic composite, of which there are many types and varying qualities. Genuine porcelain is currently the best material available, while plastics are the least expensive and least durable.
